YGTP participated in a very emotional and powerful event that educated us on the Holocaust and a call of action that was presented through the arts to discuss the dangers of hatred and bigotry. It included a viewing of NOT The Last Butterfly, an award-winning documentary about The Butterfly Project, still in film festivals. At the end of this evening we were able to create butterflies to help get closer to honoring the 1.5 million children who died in the Holocaust! We were encouraged and we encourage you to continue to promote tolerance in our communities, to confront injustice whenever and wherever you see it, and to tell the courageous stories of those who have come before us.
The Compassion Experience offered an interactive tour of life in a developing world. This event connected YGTP to some of the realities faced by children growing up in extreme poverty. We were able to step into a new culture, see life from a different perspective and participate in thought-provoking conversations with the rest of our group and volunteers during this journey through a series of interactive exhibits. We learned about students from Ethiopia and the Dominican Republic.
YGTP participated in an educational trip to Costa Rica on July 8, 2019 to July 16, 2019. We participated in service work such as planting trees for the reforestation program, visited a school and interacted with the children for the day, donated school supplies, learned about Costa Rica's diverse ecosystems and visited some major sites.
